What Diana Murphy Doesn't Want You to Know about Molly, the Draft MareOne of my friends returned a 12-year-old Suffolk cross draft mare, Molly, to Dina Murphy of the Voice for Horses Rescue in Toledo, Ohio, because she has proven to be extremely green and difficult, even dangerous, for inexperienced riders. Despite my friend's pleas, Diana has refused to honestly represent this horse. She insists that she issafe for beginners. Someone is going to get seriously injured or worse because of Diana's blatant disregard for the safety of others.

My friend, Kristen Boltz, as seen in her comments in the Facebook thread you are about to read, pointed out the behavioral issues with this horse, who, at 17.1 hands tall and 2200 lbs., is a very large, powerful and intimidating animal--and more so taking her aggressiveness towards humans into consideration. Kristen's pleas fell on deaf ears as Diana steadfastly refused to change the information about her. It is Kristen's brutally frank opinion that if an inexperienced rider should attempt to ride or handle this extremely powerful horse, he or she could be seriously injured or worse, even killed. Read on:

    •    Marianne Boone Thanks Kristen, the mare we bailed last week is also over 17+ and is not well broke either....looked like she was in the video, but she is a feisty one. Think her buddy was keeping her calm, but her buddy had already been bailed when I tried for the pair. So, we are looking for a rideable companion for her....would like one that is nicely broke to ride since most of the others we have are in training and it would be nice to have a couple for a relaxing, calm ride (for a change).....lol

    •    A Tina and Kristen if you cann talk in a civil manner I WILL block you from posting if you have a beef with me please take it private so the FB members do not have to see your posts of vulgar language. This horse is a good girl for us and ...we screen our people carefully and if we feel they can handle a horse like this we then inviste them out to meet the horse to see if it will be a match, and this horse WILL NEVER END UP IN AN AUCTION AGAIN that is why we have contracts to they come back to us if it does not work out, as all of our horses do and then some, hence this mare who was privatly bailed but we took her in becasue Kristen and her wife were not a match for her. As to why she still has the same halter one we did not have a draft halter at the time of her arriving but have since bought one for her, , the comment it broke before shipping, not likely, and horses get thier feet trimmed on a schdeule at to the severity of thier needs and condition, which she is on a list with others soon to be done.See More

    •
    •    You LIED about the reason we gave her up (which is real dumb, considering a Belgian that I broke personally is MY mount... so... why would size be an issue, anyway?). You're accusing me of lying about the halter. That's hilarious, because it the clip snapped when I was trying to catch her, before loading her up.
    •
    •    You're acting like this horse was worked on, via you. She had her hooves done less than two weeks before you got her. She gained damn near 500 pounds in my care... but I didn't do anything. Real nice, to discredit me and all the work I did with her.
    •

    •    Oh are they really going to a new home, Diana? Really? Did you tell the new owners the truth about Molly and how intractable she is, and likely to hurt or kill an inexperienced rider? I bet you didn't even bother to check their references, ...like you didn't Kristen's.
    •
    •    You are absolutely sickening and disgusting in the way you play fast and loose with not only the horses you claim to care so passionately about, but also the lives of the people who end up adopting them. If Molly should seriously maim, or worse, kill someone, it's going to be on YOUR head, Diana, and for that I hope you rot in jail! This is outright fraud and misrepresentation.
    •
    •    Kristen has told you numerous times already, till she's blue in the face, how big and dangerous this mare is, yet you continually turn a deaf ear to her pleas. I normally don't wish harm on anyone, but it would serve you right if Molly were to kick you in the head for your callousness and blatant disregard for the safety and welfare of people-- especially kids.
    •
    •    Barring that happening, I, Kristen, Paula and Alli, Kima, Tina, Michelle Howard,  and many others are going to see to it that you end up behind bars along with your cohorts Lisa, Christy, Sharon Stone, Colleen Cramblet, and God knows who else--and on yes, Dr. Jim Holt too, for issuing fraudulent health certificates for horses that had no business being shipped across the interstate.
    •
    •    It's going to happen and there's nothing you can do about it, with evidence against you piling up every single day. Your ship is sinking fast, and your supporters are abandoning it in droves and going over to the other side, the side that sees what FRAUDS all of you are. As Craig Lundgren has said so many times on his wall, "The truth always comes out!"
    •
    •    And one last word: don't you DARE lecture Kristen on her language when you allow your blindly obedient lackey, Char Notman, to post comments on my wall as well as those of others with similarly vile language. I know you're making her speak for you and it's disgusting how you manipulate her as a means to an end, for your own selfish purposes. That is hypocrisy pure and simple.

Since then, Diana Murphy deleted the entire post along with Molly's photo. Despite an agreement with Kristen to repost her photo with a more honest description of this mare's behavioral issues, she has not done so. What has become of this horse since is anyone's guess: she may still be at the rescue in Maumee, Ohio. Perhaps an experienced rider or trainer adopted her. Or.... she may have been sent away to an auction to be sold all over again on top of the money Kristen spent to direct bail her. Worse case scenario: she may have been sent packing on a long, tortuous and hellish ride in a tractor-trailer along with dozens of other unfortunate horses to the slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico.

The bottom line is, Ms. Murphy has clearly demonstrated her callous disregard for the health, safety and welfare of the public
through her comments and actions with regard to Molly. A truly honest and ethical rescue would never knowingly put a potential adopter's life in jeopardy, but instead make every attempt to match horse to rider. The good, legitimate rescues know they have reputations to protect and that means describing every horse's shortcomings, faults, quirks, and health issues as well as their good points. That brutal honesty may scare away potential adopters, but in the long run, it can prevent tragedy down the road for both people and the horses themselves. Isn't that what is truly important?

Sellers need to be aware that even though disclaimers are included in purchase contracts or agreements if a horse is grossly misrepresented there is cause for recourse for damages and liability with or without injuries involved. I think that some might benefit to read this article describing horse sales and transfers in the U.S.

As a "rescue network" people need to realize that horses might be rescued if they can be... but the network is actually made up of: vet -for authorizations; Meat Killer - for horses that cant be re-homes; and strangers who might say they want a horse. RESCUE is a misnomer, and only the rare horse actually finds a "forever home". Use at your OWN RISk.
